How many axle lines does my load need?

A plain-language guide to the axle-line calculation — from cargo weight to a workable configuration.

The required number of axle lines depends on three independent limits: the technical rating of the equipment, the allowable ground bearing pressure, and (for public roads) the permit axle-load limit. The effective admissible load per line is the minimum of these three.
